Detailed itinerary

Day 1Km 104 – Wiñay Wayna – Inti Punku – Aguas Calientes

We begin our adventure early at 04:00 AM. We pick up all travelers from their hotels and travel to Ollantaytambo by private transport. At the train station, we board the train to Km 104, the starting point of our hike.

Upon arrival, we visit Chachabamba, an archaeological site located at 2,250 meters above sea level. Here we learn about Inca agricultural terraces and irrigation systems. Then we continue hiking uphill, surrounded by lush vegetation, waterfalls, and colorful orchids.

After approximately three hours of hiking, we reach Wiñay Wayna, one of the most impressive sites on the Inca Trail. Its terraces and ancient structures dominate the valley and offer insight into Inca life. Here we rest and enjoy our box lunch with stunning mountain views.

We continue hiking to Inti Punku (Sun Gate), located at 2,720 meters above sea level. From here, we enjoy our first magical view of Machu Picchu under the afternoon light—a truly unforgettable moment. Then we descend gradually to the citadel for a short stop before taking the bus to Aguas Calientes.

In the evening, we have dinner together and prepare for the visit to the Inca citadel the next day.
