Detailed itinerary
Day 1Andean Wedding Ceremony in Cusco, Peru – Sacred Valley Ritual
The Andean wedding ceremony will begin in the morning with comfortable pickup from the hotel in Cusco or the Sacred Valley. During the scenic drive to the community of Chinchero, we will enjoy views of rolling mountains, fertile valleys, and traditional villages while our guide explains the Andean principles of life: ayni, or reciprocity; minka, or communal work; and yanantin, or complementarity. These values will set the tone for the symbolic union.
Upon arrival in the community, local families will offer a warm welcome and prepare the couple for the celebration. Dressed in traditional attire provided by the community, the couple will learn the meaning of each garment: the lliqlla, a ceremonial mantle that protects and blesses; the montera, a hat that expresses respect; and the chumpi, a woven belt that represents the unbreakable bond of union.
Before the ceremony begins, offerings to Pachamama will be prepared with coca leaves, flowers, seeds, and chicha, symbolizing gratitude for the life and energy shared with nature.
The heart of the day will unfold when the Altomisayoc, or Andean priest, invites the couple into the sacred space. They will exchange coca leaves and bind the chumpi around their waists, sealing their eternal connection in the presence of the Apus, the sacred mountains, and the community. Guests and family will form an energy circle around the couple and offer wishes for love, abundance, and harmony.
Traditional music, Andean flutes, and alpacas will enrich the spiritual atmosphere and create a timeless moment. After the sacred rites, the celebration will continue with a traditional Andean lunch prepared with local ingredients and shared with community members. This meal is part of the ritual of reciprocity and a reminder that everything offered returns multiplied.
As the afternoon closes, the couple and community will exchange words of gratitude, and the celebration will end with music, photos, and handcrafted memories. By mid-afternoon, we will return comfortably to Cusco carrying a deeper connection to the land, the culture, and each other. Every gesture, word, and offering will transform this symbolic wedding into a living memory infused with Andean spirituality.
